5 Ways to Maintain Self-Awareness: Tips for Personal Growth

5 Ways to Maintain Self-Awareness: Tips for Personal Growth

Self-awareness is a crucial aspect of personal growth and development. It involves having a clear understanding of your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, as well as how they impact yourself and others. Maintaining self-awareness is an ongoing practice that requires intentional effort and attention. In this article, we’ll share some tips on how to maintain self-awareness and cultivate personal growth.

  1. Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present and aware of your thoughts, feelings, and surroundings. By practicing mindfulness regularly, you can become more aware of your thoughts and emotions, which can help you make more conscious decisions. Mindfulness can be practiced through various techniques, such as meditation, deep breathing, or simply paying attention to your senses. Set aside a few minutes each day to practice mindfulness and observe your thoughts and feelings without judgment.

  1. Keep a Journal

Writing down your thoughts and feelings can help you become more aware of them. Keeping a journal is a great way to reflect on your experiences and gain insights into your thought patterns and emotions. Make it a habit to write in a journal daily, even if it's just for a few minutes. Write down your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and reflect on how they relate to your goals and values.

  1. Get Feedback

Ask for feedback from friends, family, or colleagues on how you come across to others. This can help you become more aware of your strengths and weaknesses. Be open to constructive criticism and use it as an opportunity to learn and grow. When receiving feedback, ask clarifying questions to gain a deeper understanding of the feedback and how you can apply it to improve yourself.

  1. Reflect on Your Actions

Take time to reflect on your actions and decisions. Ask yourself why you made a particular choice and how it affected you and others. Reflect on the outcomes of your actions and whether they aligned with your values and goals. Use this reflection to identify areas where you can improve and make better choices in the future.

  1. Take Personality Tests

Taking personality tests like the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) or the Enneagram can help you become more aware of your personality traits and how they impact your behavior. These tests can provide insights into your strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies. However, it's important to remember that personality tests are not definitive and should be used as a tool for self-reflection and growth rather than a definitive answer to who you are.

Ultimately, maintaining self-awareness is an ongoing practice that requires intentional effort and attention. By practicing mindfulness, keeping a journal, seeking feedback, reflecting on your actions, and taking personality tests, you can become more self-aware and cultivate personal growth. Remember, self-awareness is a journey, not a destination. It takes practice and patience to develop and maintain self-awareness, but the rewards are worth it!

See Which Fashion Icon Pulled Up to Brooklyn Circus x The GAP Launch Event

Everyone loves a good collab right? When big corporations take an interest in smaller more niche brands we are usually torn; watching with half excitement half with dred. The best collaborations are when both brands are seen equally and have a dope story to tell.

We had the pleasure of being invited to the launch event of one of those equally yoked collabs: Brooklyn Circus and GAP!

Black creators, designers, writers, and artists all pulled up to Dumbo House in BK to experience a brand that has constantly inspired us over the years and the event did not disappoint! We listened to an amazing convo where Ouigi Theodore talked about coming from Haiti to America and growing to embody both countries in his style and perspective. He also talked about his club promoting days, designing flyers and knowing when to walk away when something no longer “feels good”. We all left with some gems.

Fashion and Harlem icon Dapper Dan was in the building showing love too! We know Dapper Dan had an earlier collab with GAP so it felt like we all got to witness a passing of the torch in real life. He was happy and excited to hear about The Aware Brand and told us that he loves how black men are stepping up and pushing the message of self awareness and self love. What a moment!

Seeing this collab come to life is inspiring for us as we continue to launch new collections in partnership with Foot Locker. It also reminds us that you never know who’s watching and to stay the course and see the vision through to the end.

To learn more and shop the collab check out the BKc’s website!

Black History Month Inspired Streetwear Collection!

Black History Month Inspired Streetwear Collection!

Legacy is super important to us at The Aware Brand. No other time of the year is the legacy of black people on display more than Black History Month. Even though black history is World and American history we are taking this month to give the tribe something special: our newest campaign all about being Black and Aware!

The main design is the I AM hoodie which draws inspiration from the Memphis Sanitation Workers Strike of 1968. Our memories as well as civil rights documents are forever imprinted with the famous I AM A MAN signs that the sanitation workers wore during the strike. Those signs are a statement to the world that the men knew their worth and wouldn’t settle for anything less. Similarly, our hoodies are a statement to whoever reads them that the person wearing it is an aware human, and is aligned with the legacy of historical movements that were dedicated to liberating the minds and bodies of black people across the world.

Show the world that you are aligned with the legacy of Black and Aware Humans that have always fought to push society and the world forward! Self awareness is the only starting point to truly transforming our lives. Click the link below to shop our capsule collection! Stay aware!

Designer Don C Launches All City Collaboration With Foot Locker

Designer Don C Launches All City Collaboration With Foot Locker

If you grew up in the blog era you most likely have feelings of inspiration and excitement attached to this image.

(Pictured: Don C, Taz Arnold, Chris Julian, Kanye West, Fonsworth Bentley, and Virgil Abloh at Paris fashion show in 2009)

And although South Park used it for satire on their show; back in 2009 this was a special moment for many black creatives. This picture is full of legends that have all done and continue to do amazing things individually. To witness everyone’s trajectory from this moment to now is nothing short of inspirational. This picture made us all envision ourselves pulling up to Paris with our crew. This past weekend we were able to tap in with the man holding the Louis Vuitton luggage: the legendary Don C.

We were invited by Foot Locker to attend a private event to celebrate Don C’s launch of his ALL CITY collection and collaboration with Foot Locker. We were hyped! The event was centered around a conversation between Laura Stylez from Hot 97 and Don C himself. They talked about his early design inspirations and how sneaker culture and sports have always influenced his approach to fashion.

A treasure chest of gems mixed with introspective jokes kept all of us engaged and in the moment. After the conversation Don C took his time talking to all the young creatives in the building.

It was dope to reconnect with friends of The Aware Brand to share our successes and lessons learned. We were also able to tap in with other brands and people who are killing it out here. Everyone was empowering one another all night, it was a vibe.

Building a brand can be very frustrating and exhausting sometimes which makes it that much more important to celebrate the wins. From launching at Dose Detroit to Richard and Drew’s birthdays to the GQ feature plus some behind the scenes stuff, November has been a big month for us! We are growing and more and more people are seeing it.

Meeting Don C is definitely one of the highlights of the year so far. He said he likes the brand and followed our IG on the spot. Crazy! It was a full circle moment to be appreciated by someone who has shaped so much of the streetwear culture. It lets us know we are moving in the right direction.

Shout out to Foot Locker for inviting us and gifting us some gear from the new collection!
